Kilkenny App Business Awards Recognition

The Kilkenny App, powered by the Eventstream platform, was recognised at the Kilkenny Business Awards 2025 — a milestone that reflects what's possible when a city genuinely adopts a mobile channel for its events and venues.

The Kilkenny App — the city guide app we operate on the Eventstream platform — was recognised at the Kilkenny Business Awards 2025 as a category finalist. It’s a moment worth reflecting on, because the Kilkenny App represents what we set out to prove when we launched the platform.

What the Kilkenny App does

The Kilkenny App is a mobile guide to what’s on in Kilkenny — events, venues, festivals, food, culture. Locals and visitors use it to find things to do, follow venues they love, and get notified when something they care about is happening.

For venues and event organisers in Kilkenny, it provides a direct mobile channel to an engaged local audience. Rather than building and maintaining their own app, they plug into an existing platform that already has the audience.

Why city apps work

The insight behind Eventstream is that people don’t install five venue apps — they install one city app. An app that covers everything happening in a place has a reason to stay on your phone.

For the venues and organisers inside that app, the benefit is access to an audience they didn’t have to build themselves. When the Kilkenny Cats give a concert, when the Cat Laughs Festival announces tickets, when a new restaurant opens on Rose Inn Street — the notification goes to people who already told us they want to know about Kilkenny.

What this recognition means

The KBA 2025 recognition reflects the work the Kilkenny App team has put in — and the openness of Kilkenny’s venues and event organisers to embrace a shared mobile platform.

We think this model works elsewhere. That’s why we’re bringing it to theatres, festivals and cities across the UK and Ireland.
