The Kilkenny App Shortlisted for the 2025 Kilkenny Business Awards
We’re incredibly proud to share that The Kilkenny App—the very first app in our journey—has been shortlisted for the 2025 Kilkenny Business Awards, sponsored by Vhi.
For us, this recognition is especially meaningful. The Kilkenny App began as a simple idea rooted in our love for the county, aiming to give locals and visitors a single place to discover what’s happening across the city and beyond. To see it now recognised by the Kilkenny Chamber, in the 25th year of the awards, is a moment of real pride.
A Celebration of Local Innovation
Kilkenny Chamber received a huge number of nominations this year, and 58 businesses have been shortlisted across 20 award categories. Knowing the level of competition makes this achievement all the more special.
Shortlisted applicants, including ourselves, will meet with the selection panel on 22nd October 2025, with interviews hosted at the Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel and Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. The winners will then be announced at the Gala Awards Evening in the Lyrath Estate Hotel on 22nd November 2025, hosted by Marty Whelan.
What It Means for the Kilkenny App
This recognition isn’t just about technology—it’s about community. The Kilkenny App has always been built around the people who live here:
the businesses who power the local economy,
the artists and venues who keep the city vibrant,
and the thousands of users who open the app every week to find something new to enjoy.
Being shortlisted is a sign that the app is doing exactly what it set out to do: support local life, make events easier to discover, and help Kilkenny shine.
From Kilkenny to Eventstream
What started here in Kilkenny has grown into something much bigger. The success and community support around the Kilkenny App inspired us to expand the concept under Eventstream, our growing network of city-based apps.
Over the past year, we’ve launched five new apps using the same technology and community-first approach:
Manchester
York
Brighton
Cardiff
Edinburgh
But no matter how far we grow, Kilkenny remains the heart of the project. It’s where we tested our ideas, listened to local feedback, and proved that a city-focused events app can make a genuine difference.
Looking Towards November
We’re honoured to be recognised alongside so many brilliant Kilkenny businesses, and we’re grateful to everyone who has supported the app from day one. Whether we win or not, this shortlist feels like a celebration of the whole community who helped shape the Kilkenny App into what it is today.
We’re looking forward to the Gala Awards Night in November — and to continuing to grow, improve, and represent Kilkenny with pride.
